The Daxi Mausoleum was established in 1962 and was originally it’s originally named was Touliao Guesthouse. When Chiang Ching-kuo passed away in 1988, this villa with garden and pond became his eternal resting place. The exterior design of simple red bricks and plain black walls matches the frugal personality of Old Chiang, as he is recalled. Inside the Mausoleum there is only Chiang Kai-shek's sarcophagus room and his study, both kept in the simple style that characterized the late president. The garden with plum trees and dragon juniper trees add to the elegant atmosphere of the place.
