Liyu Lake is located at the foot of Liyu Mountain, in Chinan Village, Shoufeng Township, only 18 kilometers from Hualien City. The lake is about 1.5 km in length and 930 meters in width, making it the largest inland lake in Hualien County with a total area of 104 hectares. Measuring about 1 by 1.5 Km, the lake is one of the oldest scenic areas in Taiwan and the largest lake in Hualien County. It receives its water from a spring in the so-called 'heart' of the lake. Every year in April, thousands of fireflies flash above the lake.
