Embark on a journey along Provincial Highway 24, delving deep into the secret mountain forests of Southern Taiwan. Step into the cloud-shrouded valleys of Maolin and Wutai, and experience the Rukai people's rhythm of life, coexisting harmoniously with nature. Starting from the stunning canyon and stream scenery of Lover's Valley in Maolin National Scenic Area, the route connects the slate houses of Duona Village, the Duona High Suspension Bridge, and the scenic "Little Great Wall." Along the way, mountains, cliffs, and valleys intertwine to create the most pristine mountain landscape.
The second day focuses on leisurely village walks and immersive local experiences. Visit Shenshan Village and its beautiful Shenshan Catholic Church, then participate in an experiential tour at the SAMA Canteen, a tribal culinary school (including Aiyu jelly DIY and lunch). Afterward, proceed to Wutai Village to explore Yanban Lane (Slate Lane), the Hunter Warrior's Home, Wutai Presbyterian Church, and the Cultural Plaza. Finally, ascend the Lilium Observation Deck at Guchuan Bridge for a panoramic view of the valley. This two-day itinerary, departing with a small group, combines natural landscapes, cultural depth, and hands-on experiences, making it perfect for travelers who wish to discover the beauty of indigenous villages in a way that is closer to the land.
