  • Area :Taoyuan

Cihu, formerly called Biwei, derives its fame and favor from the fact that it resembled Fenghua, President Chiang Kai-shek's hometown in China. In 1959 the Cihu Guesthouse for the president and the first lady was completed. The name Cihu (Lake of Kindness) was chosen 1962 to honor the memory of his mother. In 1975 the guesthouse was converted to a mausoleum for the President's remains, where people come to pay their respects to him and watch the changing of the guard. Cihu can be crowded on weekends.
